Deep groove ball bearings are the most commonly used type of rolling bearing. They are characterized by low friction resistance and high-speed capabilities. These bearings can sustain radial loads, as well as compound radial and axial loads simultaneously. Additionally, they can handle axial loads in machinery components such as small electric motors, automotive and tractor transmissions, gearboxes, and general machinery and tools.
 

A deep groove ball bearing has an outer ring, an inner ring, steel balls, and cages. There are single-row and double-row types. Deep groove ball structures are also divided into sealed and open structures. Open type means that the bearing does not have a sealed structure. Sealed deep groove ball bearings are categorized into dust-proof and oil-proof types. The dust-proof sealing seal, made of stamped steel plate, simply prevents dust from entering the bearing raceway. In contrast, the oil-proof type uses a contact oil seal to prevent the escape of grease and oil from bearing.

Single Row Deep Groove Ball Bearing

Single-row deep groove ball bearings feature deep groove raceways on the inner as well as outer rings. The deep groove raceway and the excellent tightness between the raceway and the steel ball enable this type of bearing to withstand a certain two-way axial load while bearing a radial load. Increasing the radial clearance of the bearing enhances its ability to withstand axial loads. Therefore, it can sometimes be used to replace high-speed angular contact ball bearings.

Double Row Deep Groove Ball Bearing

Double-row deep groove ball bearings correspond to single-row deep groove ball bearings in design. They feature uninterrupted deep raceways and a high degree of consistency between balls and raceways. Besides being able to withstand radial loads, they can also handle axial loads coming in both directions. Double-row deep groove ball bearings are ideally suited for bearing arrangements where the load-carrying capacity of single-row bearings is insufficient. For the same bore and outer diameter, 62 and 63 series double-row bearings are slightly wider than single-row bearings but offer a much higher load capacity. They are available only as open bearings (without seals).
